Clinical Supervision

Clinical Supervision is offered to therapists, educational or social care professionals. This is a professional, collaborative relationship providing you the time and space, to reflect on aspects of your professional practice, and your own processes.
My aim is to provide a knowledgeable, transparent, open, safe and secure space for this exploration of all aspects of your work and your own wellbeing.

It will be my aim to develop a safe, transparent and non judgmental environment in order to support your explorations of your work.

I am an experienced Clinical supervisor and an accredited registered Psychotherapist.

I am committed to supporting the work and personal processes of the supervisees that I connect with.  I work reflectively and intuitively using evidence based theory together with an ability to think outside of the box.

I am able to draw on my unique concepts, my academic knowledge, together with my experience gained through the facilitation of many thousands of practice hours with both my client practice and supervision work.

I too engage in regular supervision of my own supervision, and I adhere strictly to the code of ethical practice of The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, of which I am a registered and accredited member.

I supervise the practice of adults, however I am also experienced  in supervising clinical work with children and young people, as a professional practitioner, I have gained specific qualifications to engage in therapeutic work and supervision with children from age 4 years and upwards.

A considerable proportion of my supervisory work involves supporting the practice of other professionals who work with children and young people.

I am experienced in multi-disciplinary working, and I am a qualified Designated Safeguarding Officer. Aside from my own clinical practice.

In general, I am able to offer clinical supervision to individuals or I am able to facilitate online or in house group work. My supervision practice extends to:

Trainee & Qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapists

There is an ethical requirement for Counsellors/Psychotherapists who are members of the BACP/UKCP/NCPS to maintain regular supervision of their work.

I have a number of years experience of working with both trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists both within individual and group settings.

I am an approved supervisor within the following establishments:

  • Leeds Beckett University
  • Leeds City College
  • Kirklees College
  • Bradford Rape Crisis
  • Northpoint Wellbeing

I offer a 15 minute cost free online meeting session so that we are able to decide if we will work together and for me to answer any questions that you may have.

It is important for both yourself and your development within practice that you are able to find and connect with the right supervisor for you. I will always advocate this.

Once we have decided that we are able to work together, I will provide you with a supervision agreement that must be signed together before our work commences.

My sessional prices are as follows:
  • Individual Supervision: £60.00 per hour
  • Accreditation Reports: £55.00 per hour (Usual training reports are included within the supervisory fee)
  • Group supervision £125.00 per 1.5 hours (up to 6 people per group)

My Availability does vary, please contact me to check my current ability to offer you a regular suitable appointment time.

Educational School Based Colleagues

Educational and social care professionals may find external clinical supervision beneficial to explore their client and professional relationships.

Clinical supervision is very different to “in house” Management supervision in that it offers the opportunity, for the employee to connect with a qualified professional who remains unconnected to your establishment, and therefore advocates an impartial and un-bias facilitated exploration outside of the working environment.

This protected space can be hugely beneficial to the colleague and their ability to use the space openly.

My work will support a personal safe space to offload the stresses of the role and to talk openly and honestly regarding all aspects of the work. I can collaborate with difficulties with caseload and a sharing of knowledge from a therapeutic perspective that can enhance the work that takes place within schools and improves the wellbeing of the practitioners who work within the school environment.

I have personal experience of delivering school based counselling, giving me awareness of the complexities of the wider dysfunction within families and emotional wellbeing of children within school. In addition, I am a Qualified Designated Safeguarding Officer myself.

Currently, I work within a number of schools and engage in supervision with Head and Assistant Head Teachers, Designated Safeguarding Leads, Senco, Learning Mentor and others.

The Provision of Associate Supervision Services for Schools

For larger school clusters and services, I am able to commission and provide an associate service. I work in partnership with a number of  trusted, appropriately qualified and experienced Supervisors.

Please contact me to discuss your requirements in more detail, I look forward to connecting with you.

Social Care Services

I am able to facilitate supervision to Social Workers or those with professional roles within social care environments. Our work together will be collaborative, supportive and we will focus together on caseload, workplace, CPD, wellbeing and self care within a safe and welcoming space.

Please contact me to discuss your requirements in further detail, I look forward to connecting with you.

Wellbeing Services

A proportion of my supervisory work has focused on facilitating group supervision to teams of Wellbeing Practitioners within larger emotional health services. In my experience well facilitated group work within working teams connects the workforce and promotes a sense of shared responsibility, develops confidence within practice, enhances knowledge through the sharing of professional standards and therapeutic angles

Voluntary Sector Services

My work within voluntary services extends to supervising both individuals and facilitating group work with employees and practitioners.

Some of my supervisory work has been focused on facilitating supervision for counselling/therapeutic services within voluntary sector environments.

I bring knowledge in specific areas such as domestic abuse and early trauma and I believe that specific knowledge in this area can enhance working practice, while providing additional emotional support to those working with service users who have experienced this.

I have myself worked within the voluntary sector as a practitioner and within development and fund sourcing so I can appreciate the challenges faced and the complexities of the client bases.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any further questions or to discuss your requirements, I will be happy to provide bespoke services and to answer any questions that you may have.

I look forward to meeting with and working with you.

Client Feedback
Clinical Supervision
“Being my first experience of supervisor/supervisee relationship, I was initially quite nervous as I knew how important this aspect of being a Counsellor is. The supervision is key in developing myself as an effective Counsellor. I did feel confident in my choice to work with Michelle, from our first meeting I had a good feeling about the connection that we could develop. I was keen to form a relationship that would help me to grow and progress. Michelle is a big part of my continuing development; she encourages reflection on my client work and together we look deeper into my understanding of each client’s experience. I do fully trust our supervision space and feel able to bring any issues that arise. As my counselling journey continues, I hope to take even more from our sessions and feel that Michelle will enable me to become more explorative in order to improve my Counsellor/Client relationships”
Client Feedback
Clinical Supervision
Michelle was critical to how our organisation grew in the period that she worked with us. The feedback was always that she helped our practitioners deal with the issues they were facing, gave real, down to earth support and guidance and was always incredibly professional. Michelle allowed us to work following BACP guidelines and ensured our team were always working within their means and ethically. I would strongly recommend Michelle to any organisation, big or small, for clinical supervision or any other consultancy services.
